Don’t miss this returning production of HK Ballet’s sold-out 2019 Asian premiere of The Great Gatsby!

Don your glad rags and get ready to travel back to the golden age of jazz, in opulent 1920s New York. Hong Kong Ballet’s production of “The Great Gatsby” returns  after its sold-out 2019 debut for eight exuberant performances, between Friday, 27 October and Sunday, 5 November.

Described by critics as “a feast for the eyes”, brace yourself for rambunctious revelry, as we follow our enigmatic host, Jay Gatsby, into his world of carefree frivolity, against the backdrop of all-consuming love, thwarted ambition and shocking scandals. Needless to say, it’s a party you won’t want to miss.

Hong Kong Ballet The Great Gatsby

Narrated by James Seol, F. Scott Fitzgerald’s cautionary tale of love, wealth and betrayal, comes to life on stage in this spirited production choreographed by the esteemed Septime Webre. Setting the tone of the show with steamy jazz tunes will be Billy Novick’s Blue Syncopators and award-winning blues singer E. Faye Butler, performing live.

Hong Kong Ballet The Great Gatsby

This special production showcases local veteran Tan-ki Wong’s bravura tap dancing, alongside original Art Deco sets and costumes by Academy Award-winning designer Tim Yip (best known for his work on “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”). In true Gatsby fashion, HK Ballet is pulling out all the stops and we expect the show to be the talk of the town.

Hong Kong Ballet The Great Gatsby

Tickets can be purchased online or at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre. Seats start at $220, with a 50% discount available for students and seniors. As an extra bonus, ticket holders can enjoy 15% off dining at Rosewood Hong Kong’s BluHouse or Holt’s Café, and can also book the 3-course dinner set menu at Regent Hong Kong’s The Lobby Lounge at the special price of $440.

HK Ballet’s The Great Gatsby

When: Friday, 27 October, 7:30pm, Saturday, 28 and Sunday, 29 October, 2:30pm and 7:30pm, Saturday, 4 November, 2:30pm and 7:30pm, Sunday, 5 November, 2:30pm

Disney+ lights up the season with festive displays for all to enjoy this Christmas.

We may not have white Christmases in Hong Kong, but we make up for that in colour. Take a ferry across the harbour and head to Tsim Sha Tsui where lines of festive light displays await. These displays can be found on the facades of China Hong Kong City, Tsim Sha Tsui Centre & Empire Centre, as well as the Insta-famous Mody Lane.

China Hong Kong City: Mody Lane Christmas Lights

The theme this year? Disney! To celebrate the long-awaited arrival of Disney+ in Hong Kong, the streaming service will help to light up the season with dazzling Disney-themed Christmas displays featuring all your favourite characters. Expect appearances from the different Disney brands including Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars.

Don’t miss the 4,000 sq. metre multimedia wall of Tsim Sha Tsui Centre & Empire Centre, which features 82,000 colour-changing LED bulbs along with a special animation starring six iconic Disney+ brands. Don’t forget to share your best snaps on social media for the chance to win some amazing prizes such as a 12-Month Disney+ with 1000M Broadband Service Plan. See details on how to enter the photo contest here.

China Hong Kong CIty: Pierside Bar & Restaurant

The festive fun doesn’t have to end there! Grab dinner and drinks at one of the many bars and restaurants in the area where you can bask in the glow of the lights from afar – and also enjoy equally stunning views of Victoria harbour.

Pierside Bar & Restaurant offers Insta-worthy sea views and an excellent wine and cocktail menu to match. Throw in a few snacks from the bar and you’re all set for a fab night out. Another great spot for drinks by the water is Boticario Bar & Grill. The cocktail programme here is built around the concept of “cures for the modern age”, which sounds like just what we need to ring in the new year.

China Hong Kong City: PABLO Signature Cocktail

For something a little heartier, head to PABLO Modern Mexican Cocina, which serves up some mean Mexican flavours. We hear PABLO’s signature cocktails are also not to be missed!

Feeling a little chilly? Cosy up at Flame at Towngas Avenue where you can feast upon flame-cooked fare. Its Festive Set Dinner includes Roasted US Turkey Breast & Honey Glazed Bone Ham, your choice of Grilled Argentine Beef Rib Eye Steak, Smoked Norwegian Salmon Fillet or Seafood Bouillabaisse, and more for just $438.

Upon spending $500 on F&B at Tsim Sha Tsui Centre & Empire Centre, S⁺ REWARDS members can redeem a $50 NOC Beverage Voucher and earn double points until Saturday, 1 January, 2022. We’ll see you there!
